In Medias Res - The Adventure Begins to Continue

Welcome to the first day of my new blog! I have thought about starting a blog since I began my journey to Europe over two years ago but thought sending out edited journal entries would be easier and give me more control over the type of content I was making public. Not that a person visiting Europe and exploring the possible vocation of a Benedictine Monk has much to hide, but one still wants to maintain some element of discretion concerning the daily activities of one's life. And yet I realized that a blog doesn't necessarily have to be a personal journal or on-line confessional. Rather it can simply be a resource to record one's thoughts, observations and daily adventures.

Thus it is with this thought in mind that I begin my own blog today in order to record some of the experiences I am having during my time in Europe, specifically living in my little town of Gütersloh, Germany, in order to share this experience with those who are interested, and so that I can have a record for my own memory of what it was like when once upon a time I got to live in Europe.
All I ask of you, gentle reader, is to have some patience as I learn how to operate this technology in order to get this blog.spot up and running. In the meantime, let us all recall the first time we decided to step out our doors and embark upon an adventure, be it big or small, near or far, alone or with others. Adventures come in a variety of flavors, sizes and colors but what is unique to them all is that they require us to step outside of our comfort zones and be prepared for the possibility that if and when we return, we most likely will not be the same.

"What can you see on the horizon?"
